We are always on the lookout for new innovative motorcycle designs and this week none stood out more than the Lazareth Wazuma V8F. Though it has configurations that are very similar to a trike, the V8F comes with four wheels. Aside from it’s peculiar design, there is a very unique power train inside of it. A very famous Italian automaker you’re probably familiar with, Ferrari is responsible for its 3.0-liter V8 engine that produces more than 250 horsepower. The engine is also mated to a BMW M3-sourced six-speed sequential gearbox. From the looks of it, Lazareth did not cut any corners when it came to technology.

PIAA 1100LED front view.

PIAA has been providing drivers and riders alike with exceptional road visibility for many years. Recently, the company has  released their new 1100LED for motorcyclists. These lamps are by far one of the best in the market. They are equipped with 3-mm high-impact clear glass lenses which illuminate the road with a bluish-white color (6300 Kelvin) that is the closest yet to sunlight. Emitting light in a symmetrical pattern, the 1100 ensures the rider with no loss of visibility when leaning into a turn.

Each lamp comes with three, 4 watt high-output LED bulbs which only require one amp per light at 12 volts. The 1100LED also draws significantly less power than H.I.D. or halogen lamps. CNC machined die-cast aluminum front and rear housings protect the lamp for any challenges the road provides. We were really impressed when we saw the specs of these lamps and highly recommend them to any of you who are looking for really powerful and dependable aftermarket replacements.

1199 Panigale

Recently, reports have been circling around that motorcycle manufacturer, Ducati is up for sale. Selling price for the company is set at 1 billion euros, which is three times the initial investment made by the Italian private-equity owner. Insiders believe the potential buyers to be Volkswagen, BMW and Mahindra (Indian motorcycle manufacturer). Back in 2009, VW showed some interest in purchasing the company but invested in Suzuki instead. We will keep you posted on the latest developments.

Daytona Bike Week 2012

Alright bikers, it’s that time of year again. In about one month, possibly the largest bike event will be taking place in Daytona Beach, Florida. If you have never attended, it contends with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally as one of the biggest motorcycle events in the country. Over 500,000 bikers are expected for the week long event. There will be races, concerts, parties and street festivals with plenty of food. The event will take place March 9, 2012 through March 18, 2012. Last week we posted about the amazing growth BMW Motorrad experienced in 2011 and today we are happy to announce similar news about one of our favorite manufacturers, Ducati. The company recently announced a 43 percent growth in their global markets and for the first time ever, North America is the number one market. It wasn’t only their bikes that experienced large sales growth, their apparel and accessories also recorded a 50 percent increase in 2011.

Much of Ducati’s sales growth is due to a new product line which include the very popular Diavel and the Multistrada. The Diavel has been named “Best Cruiser of 2011″ be numerous motorcycle publications and the Multistrada is not far behind as it was named “Best Open Street Bike” by Cycle World for the second year in a row. Ducati expects growth to be fueled in 2012 with the release of their new Superbike, the 1199 Panigale, along with other new releases like the 848 EVO Corse Special Edition.

We are excited to see what new innovations Ducati put out in 2012 and cat’s wait to test some of them out.
