Ducati’s 2011 Growth

Ducati

Last week we posted about the amazing growth BMW Motorrad experienced in 2011 and today we are happy to announce similar news about one of our favorite manufacturers, Ducati. The company recently announced a 43 percent growth in their global markets and for the first time ever, North America is the number one market. It wasn’t only their bikes that experienced large sales growth, their apparel and accessories also recorded a 50 percent increase in 2011.

Much of Ducati’s sales growth is due to a new product line which include the very popular Diavel and the Multistrada. The Diavel has been named “Best Cruiser of 2011″ be numerous motorcycle publications and the Multistrada is not far behind as it was named “Best Open Street Bike” by Cycle World for the second year in a row. Ducati expects growth to be fueled in 2012 with the release of their new Superbike, the 1199 Panigale, along with other new releases like the 848 EVO Corse Special Edition.

We are excited to see what new innovations Ducati put out in 2012 and cat’s wait to test some of them out.

A Year to Remember for BMW Motorrad

BMW Headlights

BMW has a serious eye on the market in 2012.

The folks at BMW Motorrad must have been thrilled when they crunched the numbers for 2011. The company reports its best sales year since its inception. Here are some of the company stats for 2011:

  • 104,286 units sold (6.4% increase from 2010)
  • 2011 total sales exceed the company’s previous best: 102,467 units in 2007
  • 12% increase in the market share in the 500cc and over segment

We do not have details on the model unit sales but in 2010, BMW credited the S1000RR for driving their sales increase. BMW also expected the high demand for the S1000RR and their new K series bikes to continue fueling their sales growth.

A big “thumbs up” for BMW team. Keep it up!

UTI Campus Locations

Today was the first day of school and we’re sure for every sad kid, there was a happy parent. It isn’t just kids going back to school though, many adults are back in the mix as well. In an effort to “keep it real” with our fans, we thought it would be a great idea to write about the hands-on Technology Training Program for Motorcycle Mechanics at the Universal Technical Institute. In a short period of time you can be working in the field and possibly doing what you love. Check out some of the program features:

MMI’s Core Program

  • Integrated technologies and procedures used by dealerships across the country.
  • Engine operation, troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • How to max power and performance.
  • Fuel and electrical systems.
One you complete the core program you can select any of the following specialties as an elective:
Here is a link to the MMI Fact Sheet which answers many of the questions you may have. It takes about 48 weeks to complete the course and classes start every 6 weeks. If you love bikes and are looking for a career change, this may be a great option for you.
