Freedom Fridays: Weekly Wrap-Up

This was a big week for Extrememoto. We figure with so much news and information to provide our fans with, it was only right to join the social media ranks and properly engage our friends. The positive feedback has been nothing short of overwhelming and we want to give a shout out to everyone who has participated and made us feel at home. Thank you!

With the weekend finally here we’re wondering what other motorheads are up to. Let us know what’s happening.

We’d also want to share a highly worthwhile suggestion of our own to fellow biking-enthusiasts, Easter-lovin’ peeps and/or all-around do-gooders. This weekend is the 8th Annual Easter Bunny Toy Run in Ft. Myers, Florida. The event, hosted by Harley-Davidson Ft. Myers & SWFL HOG, will benefit the Children’s Hospital at HealthPark. Donations of toys, games and arts & crafts supplies will be collected; however, event coordinators have asked that you do not bring stuffed animals.  Admission is $5 and registration begins at 9 a.m. and will run until 10:45 a.m. The event is located 2160 Colonial BLVD Ft. Myers, Florida 33907. There will be an escorted route and a free post-run meal at HDFM, along with tons of entertainment and giveaways.

Cheers to a kickass weekend.

A (Smart) Rider’s Spring Checklist

With Spring around the corner that means one thing, time to ride! As all riders (should) know safety is priority number one. Here we’ve put together a keep-you-in-one-piece checklist to get you ready to ride:

Tires: Check the tread on your tires so that you will drive safely through wet roads. Be sure you have the correct tire pressure, as this affects handling.

Fluids: Check all oil and fluid levels; this will affect the way the bike performs and handles.

Lights: Ensure your brake lights, headlights, four-way flashers and turn signals are working properly. Test the indicators on your dashboard as well. Visibility is a key element to motorcycle safety and your lights keep you visible on the road.

Controls: Verify that all controls are working properly and that there are no leaks along the lines.

Throttle: Test the clutch and throttle. The throttle should snap back when you let go; the clutch should feel tight and smooth.

Brakes: Test the front and rear brakes one at a time. Make sure each feels firm and holds the motorcycle when the brake is pushed down the whole way. You won’t be able to ride safely if you can’t stop your bike when you need to.

Horn: The horn is the only way you have of alerting other drivers of where you are on the road so make sure it is functioning properly.

Mirrors: Identifying where other drivers are on the road will assure that you always ride safely.

Helment & Gear: By far, this one of the most critical pointers on this checklist. Wearing a helmet will highly increase your chance of survival if you are in an accident. (Luckily, Extrememoto.com carries all the top helmet and gear brands for you to feel safe, in style. :))

Safety gear to keep you in one piece.

We hope this checklist makes for safer and more enjoyable riding this Spring.
